2017 was a year of changes for the entire Katie’s Wish Foundation team, and we’d first like to thank YOU for your never-ending support of our organization. We would not be able to do what we do without your support and encouragement. We really, truly appreciate it!
Judy bought a house and moved closer to her son, daughter-in-law and grandkids. Lindsey faced a year of medical problems that turned into two surgeries and an endometriosis diagnosis. But despite all that, we never lost sight of this organization, and decided to tone things down for 2017 to ensure that the one event we did organize was done well.
We are still distributing Cough Buddy bears to hospitals that use them, and we are very happy about that! We also gave away two scholarships this year, and are looking to do the same in 2018. The Katie McBurnett Memorial Scholarship application is now live, and can be submitted until April 15, 2018.
2018 is going to be a big year for us, event wise! We are so excited to announce that the Katie McBurnett 5K is growing, and that we will be offering two different race distances this year! We will still be offering a 5K distance, but we will also be offering a 10K distance — both on the same day and at the same time. Next year’s Katie McBurnett 5K/10K will take place in June of 2018. Look for more details about our revamped race in the next few weeks.
We are also looking into doing something totally different next winter. We are still mulling over some ideas, and getting some major decisions set in stone, but when we get closer to event time, be sure to look for another exciting announcement — we really think you’re going to love what we’ve come up with.
And last but not least, we sincerely hope everyone has a wonderful 2018, and that we get to see as many of you as possible at one of our events!
Here’s to 2018!
