After September 10, we will have hosted four Katie McBurnett 5K events in Madison, which is a feat I never thought we would accomplish! But we have done a lot of thinking, and a lot of planning, and we have decided that this year will be the last year we host the Katie McBurnett 5K in Madison.
Our goal for the Katie’s Wish Foundation is not to only fundraise twice a year at the races. Our goal is to fundraise throughout the year to support our mission. That being said, we will still be hosting the Katie McBurnett 5K in Columbus each spring.
We are excited for the opportunity to participate in other events, whether it’s a home and health show, a music festival, or other races. We want to get out there and showcase what we do to even more people. We want to get into more schools and colleges to promote education about organ donation.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us in Madison over the last four years. We could not have accomplished everything we have without you. Thank you to our many sponsors in Madison for your continued support as well.
In the meantime, there’s still plenty of time to register for the Madison Katie McBurnett 5K on September 10 (which is Katie’s birthday!). You can register online here.
If you’re already coming to the race, be sure to check out the post-race snack table — we’re going to have birthday cookies to celebrate what would be Katie’s 25th birthday!
Thank you, Madison. We love you!
